Best dorm on the U of I campus. Most welcoming atmosphere, diverse, and opportunistic! Never been happier than my YEARS at Allen hall.

It is a really cool place to live in, you can take several classes in the dorm & Allen always brags about being one of the oldest Living Learning Communities in the country. Sometimes the people are a little strange though, but overall it is a great place to live in.

I lived in Allen Hall during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 academic years. As a freshman, the openness of the Allen staff and residents was very beneficial. The frequent events provided social opportunities and residents seemed to be more willing to leave their doors open than in other buildings. My second year I began to find that I did not fit in with the general social scene at Allen as much, but the space and location remained great benefits. I would recommend Allen for freshman that are open minded and looking for multiple opportunities to engage with their hallmates.

For freshman and sophomore students, Allen Hall really is an ideal place to live. The rooms nice a roomy for two people with two bathrooms on every floor. Allen Hall is also the site of several classes exclusive to residents in topics such as music and art. The staff truly promotes socializing amongst residents so there are many activities scheduled throughout the year

Allen Hall is the best dorm EVER!! Allen Hall alums, even after they left for years, are still really attached to the dorm culture and events. There are always events going on every single night. There are big name guest speakers who come to speak and live for a few days. Truly the best.

This was by far the best dorm experience I could have had at the U of I. Not only did the people rock, but the sense of overall community in Allen was amazing and left me with the best feeling of home I could have asked for! Plus, it's not full of future bros of America. :)

I lived in Allen my freshman year in 2009 and have been an RA there my sophomore and junior year. Allen is always busy, friendly, and fun. If you are looking for a place with lots of social activity this is it. There are programs all the time and the staff stays dedicated year-round. We have a lot of classrooms because we are a living-learning community, but that doesnt mean that those rooms are usually quiet. Only a couple are designated quiet rooms. The food is alright. I'm usually too lazy to go any where else to eat and I've survived. We are right next to CRCE too so there is no excuse for hitting the gym. :P I highly recommend this residence hall!
